Grace Cares - Making Care Sustainable
As a community focused business, we love working with exceptional local talent and supporting charities wanting to good for our community

We're proud to introduce
Grace Cares as our
chosen charity of the year for our local
Business 1st Network group. This incredible organisation is making a real difference by supporting older people and care workers through practical help, emotional support, and meaningful community projects. In this month’s Tapping into Talent, we’re shining a spotlight on the inspiring story behind Grace Cares, their work, and how businesses like ours can get involved.
Name: Grace Cares
Based: Lichfield (on the same park as Harnce!)
Website: https://grace-cares.com/
Key service: Pre-loved care equipment - Hardship grants - social value activities for the over 70s - annual intergenerational campaign - ESG training and support for care providers
Can you tell us a bit about your business and how it started?
Grace Cares started with a simple but urgent need.
Through Hannah's volunteer work with
Re-engage in Lichfield, she was supporting an older person who had a bad fall and became trapped upstairs in her maisonette. She had no family nearby and was living on a very limited income. As we tried to find her a stairlift, we quickly realised how difficult it was to access affordable care equipment—or even find out what support was available.
That’s when I spoke to Adam Harrison from The Clear Out Co, one of the co-founders of Grace Cares. He told me that he often came across high-quality care equipment - wheelchairs, walking aids, mobility items—that was still perfectly usable but was being sent to landfill. That conversation was the spark that led to Grace Cares.
We believed there had to be a better way: to give pre-loved care equipment a new life, reduce waste, and support people who are struggling to afford the essentials they need to live independently and with dignity. Since then, Grace Cares has grown into a social enterprise that provides affordable equipment, practical help, and emotional support to people across the UK - especially those who are often overlooked.
What do you appreciate most about working with Harnce, and how have we collaborated in the past?
Mathew is an incredibly dedicated and compassionate person. His willingness to go the extra mile—both figuratively and literally—has made a real difference to our work. From running fundraising challenges to personally delivering essential care equipment as far as Wales, he consistently shows up with generosity, determination, and a positive attitude.
Being based on the same business estate has made collaboration easy and natural, and we’re truly grateful for the ongoing support and partnership from the entire Harnce team.
What products or services do you offer that could benefit our clients?
At Grace Cares, we offer a range of services designed to support individuals, families, and organisations in the care space-many of which could directly benefit Harnce clients and the communities they serve.
Our core offering is high-quality, pre-loved care equipment—items like wheelchairs, walking aids, and mobility supports that have been donated, checked, and given a new lease of life. This makes essential equipment more affordable and accessible, especially for those who may be recovering at home or supporting a loved one with health needs.
We also provide hardship grants to individuals facing financial difficulty, helping them access the care equipment or support they need without the added burden of cost. This can be a lifeline to older people and families navigating difficult circumstances.
For the wider community, we run a number of social value activities aimed at supporting over-70s, reducing isolation, and building meaningful connections. These include our annual intergenerational campaign, which brings together younger and older generations to learn from one another, break down barriers, and create lasting social impact.
Finally, we offer ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) training and support specifically tailored for care providers and related industries. This helps businesses enhance their social responsibility, improve sustainability, and meet evolving regulatory expectations—all while making a real difference to people’s lives.
Whether it’s helping a client return home after hospital discharge, supporting ageing-in-place, or providing guidance to businesses on how to build more inclusive and ethical practices, our services are designed to be practical, impactful, and deeply human.
Do you have any promotions or services that would be particularly useful for our clients right now?
Yes, we have two key offerings that could be especially valuable for your clients right now.
Firstly, our hardship grants are available to health and care workers, as well as individuals aged 70 and over across the UK. These grants are designed to help those facing financial difficulties access essential care equipment or support, providing peace of mind during challenging times. If any of your clients or their loved ones are in this situation, we’d love to help.
Secondly, for those aged 70 and over in the local area, we’d be delighted to welcome them to our regular tea parties. These events are all about reducing loneliness and creating uplifting social experiences in a safe, welcoming environment. They’re a lovely opportunity to connect with others, share stories, and enjoy some well-deserved company.
Both of these services are completely free to access and could make a real difference to the wellbeing of your older or caregiving clients.
How can our clients get in touch with you if they need your services?
If you’d like to find out more, explore volunteering opportunities, or support our fundraising efforts, we’d be delighted to chat. Don’t hesitate to get in touch - we’re always happy to offer advice and welcome new supporters.
